All Star Pizza Bar

A bit ago the genius' behind All Star Sandwich Bar decided to take advantage of some vacant space across the street and expand their creative flavor combinations with pizza, resulting All Star Pizza Bar! Nick used to frequent the sandwich bar back when he lived in Inman Square and had been dying to get over to try the pizza. One night recently the idea popped into our heads, so we decided to make an evening of it.

Dukes of Hazard Pizza!

Upon walking in we were greeted by the counter server and looked over the pizza list and the make-your-own toppings list. While the list allows you to put together a simple pizza, the menu pushes you a bit more outside your comfort zone. In addition, there are slices of the daily specials available - on the day we went it was a sloppy joe pizza! Ultimately, we figured if we had finally made the trip we should go with one of their creative creations so we went with the Dukes of Hazard pizza, which is topped with creamy ricotta grits, maple breakfast sausage, mozzarella cheese, soft baked eggs, and pickled Fresno chiles.

Yum!
After ordering, we grabbed our beers (YES! they serve beer!) and sat down at one of the high-tops. When our pizza arrived, it smelled delicious! The flavor combination was definitely on the breakfast side with the maple and the eggs, while the chiles brought a bit more of the savory spice making it perfect for dinner. The pickled peppers also sort of had a sweet flavor to them, which was a pleasant surprise. The ricotta grits were a nice base substitution for the straight cheese, with a light, creamy texture.

Look at those eggs!
All Star Pizza Bar has many other inventive choices, such as Buffalo Duck Confit, Artichoke Margherita and Ms. Piggy's Fig, so there are plenty of reasons to go back for more. And, with a stop off at Christina's afterwards, this was an easy night out in Iman. With so much deliciousness going on over there, maybe I should have moved to Nick's rather than visa vera way back when!

  1. I still have not been here, which is sad considering I live about 5 minutes away. But I adore their sandwiches, so this place is high on my list!

  2. We went a couple times just after we moved, but I know we'd frequent it much more if we still lived down the street. Love the creative offerings!
